The Semana da Primeira Infância de Itu 2023 promoted awareness-raising activities about the importance of the first years of life, celebrating Federal Law No. 14.617/2023, which established August as Early Childhood Month in Brazil.

We supported three major initiatives:
Event for public managers – lecture by specialist Maria Rodrigues, representative of The Basics in Brazil, who presented five simple and transformative principles for child care and development.
Children’s Morning – community gathering with theater, games, painting, magic shows, and playful activities, along with the distribution of ice cream, popcorn, and cotton candy.
Children’s Race – sports activity that encouraged family leisure time, strengthening health and community bonds.

Results:
● 130 professionals from the social welfare, education, health, and employment departments participated in training on The Basics.
● Around 6,000 people attended Children’s Morning.
● More than 1,000 children took part in the Children’s Race.

Testimonials:
“Public servants in Itu participated with great enthusiasm, absorbing the importance of early childhood science. Many left with plans to implement The Basics in their work with families.” — Maria Rodrigues, public policy specialist.
