Since 2022, Instituto Tecendo Infâncias has been a member of the Brazilian Coalition to End Violence Against Children and Adolescents, a national civil society coalition composed of more than 80 organizations, forums, and networks across the country.
The Coalition played a central role in Brazil’s engagement with the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, a United Nations initiative aimed at eliminating all forms of abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and violence against children.
The Coalition’s work is guided by INSPIRE, a global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and international partners, which brings together seven evidence-based strategies to support governments, civil society, and the private sector in implementing policies and programs to prevent and address violence against children and adolescents.
In 2019, the Coalition began disseminating INSPIRE in Brazil to adapt the framework to the national context, building the capacity of key stakeholders and developing a set of indicators responsive to the social, racial, and gender inequalities that shape the country. These indicators were structured through the integration of multiple public data sources.
As a result of this first phase, a national report was launched in April 2025, presenting 62 indicators adapted to the Brazilian context. The report was supported by Fundação José Luiz Setúbal, the National Network of Evidence in Human Rights (ReneDH), the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, and the Federal Government, with technical partnership from Vital Strategies.
The second phase, launched in October 2025, includes the development of a national monitoring dashboard and the provision of technical assistance to the federal government to strengthen the systematic use of evidence in planning and implementing violence prevention and response policies.
In response to the high levels of violence affecting children in Brazil and its profound impacts on child development and lifelong outcomes, Instituto Tecendo Infâncias began supporting Phase II of INSPIRE in Brazil in November 2025 as part of its strategic engagement in advancing violence prevention. This support is delivered in collaboration with organizations that form the Coalition’s Coordinating Committee, in technical partnership with Vital Strategies.
The Institute’s support is contributing to the implementation of the first stage of the Phase II work plan, which includes data extraction, collection, processing, and validation to inform the development of the Monitoring Dashboard. Subsequent stages will include data analysis, narrative development, and the creation of the Dashboard, with its launch expected in the second half of 2026.
By supporting the implementation of INSPIRE through strategic financial investment, the Institute reinforces the promotion of children’s rights and advances evidence-informed public policies from early childhood onward, helping to consolidate a national agenda for violence prevention. At the same time, it strengthens collaboration among civil society, public institutions, and strategic partners, actively contributing to a national network dedicated to protecting and promoting the well-being of children in Brazil.
