In July 2022, we supported the NGO CURA Brasil in carrying out a three-day health task force in the Apotribu neighborhood, a rural area of Itu located 25 km from the city center. The initiative aimed to expand access to health services in a vulnerable and hard-to-reach region.
With the Institute’s support, it was possible to provide ophthalmic equipment and supplies, as well as transportation, food, and accommodation for 45 volunteer professionals. Health diagnoses were carried out for children and their families, along with the identification of needs in education and social welfare.
Results:
● 195 people assisted, including 24 children, in ophthalmology, gynecology, physiotherapy, dermatology, and nutrition.
● 60 people reached through home visits.
● 28 referrals to municipal health services (exams, consultations, and surgeries).
● 9 referrals to social welfare services.
