We are part of the coalition that enabled Brazil’s participation in the International Early Learning and Child Wellbeing Study (IELS), an OECD international study that evaluates the learning and wellbeing of 5-year-old children.
Key milestones:
● 2022 – appointment of the national project manager.
● 2023 – translation and adaptation of instruments to the Brazilian context, along with training of the management team.
● 2024 – field testing of instruments in the states of São Paulo, Ceará, and Pará.
● 2025 – main data collection, with an estimated sample of 3,000 children.
● 2026 – release of national results and final report.
The study values children’s voices, taking into account their interests, aspirations, and school experiences. Its results will support the design and improvement of public policies not only in education but also in health, culture, and social protection.
